The gospel of Jesus Christ not only gives us a new identity; it places us in a new community called the Church.
This community is a gift. Throughout the New Testament there are many images of what this community looks like that also explain why this community is important for believers. The images are powerful and emotional – with descriptions like a bride and a family. But they are also compelling and they help us understand our role and the part we play in working with Jesus to build His kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven. During our series called “A New Community”, we looked at four images of the church in Scripture: the bride of Christ, the family of Christ, the body of Christ, and the temple of Christ. Each of these images should urge us to live a life worthy of the calling we have received – to respond the Gospel and live lives of gratitude and radical generosity.
