Friday August 22 – God’s Plan: to raise up leaders in His church
2014 Summer of Prayer
Come and worship
Thank Jesus that He is the leader and head over the Church. Renew your commitment to His leadership and worship Him for the humble servitude Christ displayed on behalf of the Church.
Meditate on His Word Colossians 1:16–18, Ephesians 4:11-12
And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ Ephesians
4:11–12
God’s plan to build the church involved fallible humanity. He started the church with a group of ragtag men who continually proved their lack of understanding and doubt, and by His grace, changed the world with this crew! His plan has not changed since that day. Even today Jesus has given the church the task of raising up leadership from every local congregation to lead, guide, and build up the church. These men are called Elders, and they are tasked with shepherding the church and equip its people for the work of ministry. Imprint Church is in process of finding and commissioning these leaders to lead under Christ’s authority, and we want to do this as prayerfully as possible.
Reflect and give thanks
Take a moment to reflect on your own involvement in raising up leaders at Imprint. Do you need to renew your commitment to Christ and the church? Should you ask God to help you submit to the leadership now and in the future? Is God calling you to be a leader?
Ask God
Pray that God will raise up the right Elders to lead Imprint Church. Pray for protection for these men. Pray that they will desire to shepherd well, and they will be called and qualified for the task.
We would love to hear from you! How have you seen God move throughout the Summer of Prayer?
