Friday August 8 – The miracle of God with us
Come and worship
Immanuel, God with us. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call His name Immanuel- (which means, God with us). Matthew 1:23
Meditate on His Word Hebrews 4:14-16, 9:24-28, Philippians 2:5-11 …but emptied Himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, He humbled Himself… Philippians 2:7-8b
It’s a mind-blowing concept- God with us. The same Almighty God who made flesh out of the dust of the earth, later came to put that flesh on. He did this- Hebrews says- to live life like you and me. Our joy and pain, laughter and grief, love and rejection, He experienced it all. Immanuel came for all of us who have ever felt unseen, unknown, and alone. What scripture tells us is that when He was here, He went through all the pains of humanity- even more than most of us. He endured pain in the world and He understands it completely. Now He stands in Heaven interceding for us- seeing us when we feel unseen, knowing us intimately when we feel unknown, and promising, “I will never leave you…” He is still Immanuel.
Reflect and give thanks
Take time to thank God for sending Jesus, Immanuel. Reflect on His loving presence with you throughout your life. Take time to thank Him for seeing you, knowing you, and always being with you.
Offer your feelings of being unseen, unknown, and alone to Him. Lay out the situations and relationships that foster those feelings in you. Hand these all over to Him and invite Him to guide you.
Think of the people who you come into contact with regularly.
– Consider those who may be struggling with feelings of being unknown or unseen.
– Consider those who may be struggling with loneliness.
Lift each one to the Lord in prayer asking how you can be His hands and feet to them.
