Monday June 30 – We ‘just’ pray

2014 Summer of Prayer

Posted on: June 30, 2014

Come and worship

God allows us to be His fellow workers in His purpose to make things grow.

1 Corinthians 3:7-9

Meditate on His Word Romans 8:18-28, 2 Corinthians 5:16-21

All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation…2 Corinthians 5:18

We do not make things happen by praying, the Lord does. Christ is the One who overcame and He is the One with the authority to make things change. We often don’t know how to pray for something or someone, or we look around and see that evil seems to prevail in the world, and our sense of inadequacy keeps us from praying.  We must remember, the Lord knows His will for every situation. The Bible tells us that Jesus’ work is done and His authority is complete, and into that He calls us to represent Him and work alongside Him to reconcile a sinful and hurting world to His great love and forgiveness.

Reflect and give thanks

Is the Lord leading you into deeper, more consistent prayer? Are you sensing there is something He desires to do in you? Through you? Praise Him today that He has included us in His plan to reconcile men to Himself.

Ask God

Lay out before the Lord all of your fears, reservations, and feelings of inadequacy in

committing to pray on a daily basis. Ask for His help to lead you in prayer and deeper Take time to commit yourself to praying each day this summer. Ask the Lord to help you to be faithful in prayer, but also gracious to yourself not submitting to a legalistic attitude. Ask the Lord to open your eyes to see the needs of the people you interact with everyday; to open your ears to His voice when He has a purpose to be worked out through you; and to kindle a deep love for the lost and hurting in your world. Ask the Lord to work through each of our prayer times to bring us into step with His Spirit at work in and through Imprint church.
