Saturday July 19 – Assignment – Do good
2014 Summer of Prayer
Come and worship
For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your work; at the works of your hands I sing for joy.. How great are your works, O Lord! Psalm 92:4-5a
‘But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. James 1:22
This passage warns against pretending instead of listening, deceiving instead of obeying,
5
and talking instead of serving. God is not merely content with us showing up to church
every Sunday and hearing great messages, He wants us to take all that in and allow Him to transform our lives because of it. Let the Word change you and go out and be the change that Jesus desires for our lives.
Scriptures
James 1:19-27, Ecclesiastes 5:1-2, Proverbs 10:16-21, Romans 2:13
Assignment
You may know someone in your neighborhood that needs help. Whether they are disabled or elderly, need help moving something heavy, or maybe they would like to learn something new.
Offer to mow someone’s yard who needs it on your street.
Try doing something nice for someone that might not really even need the help. For example, you can pay it forward at the coffee shop or go out for a meal, have appetizers and pay for someone else’s meal.
