Saturday July 26 – Assignment – Show no partiality

2014 Summer of Prayer

Posted on: July 25, 2014

Come and worship
Thank you Father that you appointed Jesus as judge, so that I do not have to judge
others.
My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of
Glory. James 2:1
Recently, I attended a King County wide prayer event called Light Up the City and one
of the questions that was asked of a panel of ministry leaders in East King County was
“What breaks God’s heart in your city?” On the Eastside, the most common response
was social isolation, a lack of a sense of community, those that self select themselves
to live in the margins of society. Overwhelmingly, this was the response from Renton to
Bothell and everything in between. The divide between cultures becomes further apart
the more one disregards the other. Jesus spent time with people on the margins, eating
with them and spending time with them…knowing them.

Scriptures
James 2:1-13, John 4:1-26, Acts 10:42

Assignment
There are may ways to not show partiality to others but challenge yourself today to
take notice of people in your community that are on the margins of society. Ask yourself
the question: “What breaks God’s heart in your city, community, neighborhood, or
workplace?”
Challenge yourself to day to make contact with someone that might consider themselves
in the margins. Look through your closet to see what clothes you could give away to the
homeless. Don’t disregard someone on the street corner pan-handling; but engage in
conversation with them, find out their name.
The Food Drive for the Woodinville Storehouse is over; but the need is still there. If you’re
going grocery shopping, pick up a few extra items for the Storehouse.
