Sunday August 24 – Preparation for worship/Thanks for His presence

2014 Summer of Prayer

Posted on: August 23, 2014

Come and worship

Read Psalm 89:1-37
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before You.
Blessed are the people who know the festal shout, who walk, O Lord, in the light of Your presence. vv.14-15

We give you thanks today for the way You lead those whose hearts are inclined to follow You. You lead us in paths of righteousness for Your Name sake. We worship You today for Your steadfast love and faithfulness that is beyond our comprehension.

Ask the Lord to show you anything that has been allowed to remain in your life or in your heart that may hinder you from entering fully into worship in the gathering today.

Reflect and give thanks

Take time today to think about your summer and all that you have seen the Lord do in your life. Write down some of the things He spoke to you or new ways He directed you in these last few months. Take time to thank Him.
Consider also those you have prayed for this summer. Have you seen the Lord at work
in them? Has He provided you new opportunities to connect with them? Write down what you have seen Him doing. Again, turn this into praise and thanks.
A quick note- do not be discouraged if there is little to record at this point. The Lord works in His time, not ours. But be assured, He is working. Though we will wrap up the ‘Summer of Prayer’ at the celebration this afternoon, your prayers and outreach to your world will continue. And, as the Lord promised, He will be with you.

We would love to hear from you! How have you seen God move throughout the Summer of Prayer?
