Thursday August 21 – Prayer for conflict- Prince of Peace
2014 Summer of Prayer
Come and worship
Jesus you are the Prince of Peace. You came into a broken, sinful world to bring shalom; to make a way for me to be reconciled to God, to others and to creation. I praise your Holy name for you indeed are worthy to be praised. Holy, Holy, Holy. The Prince of Peace. The great I Am became a lamb.
Meditate on His Word Matthew 5:23-24, 2 Corinthians 13:11
Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.
2 Corinthians 13:11
Conflict is evident in our lives and increasingly prevalent in the world. Whether the motivation is political, ethnic, past wrongs, tribal, religious or greed, the solution is the same. Jesus. As followers of Jesus we have a responsibility to actively seek shalom, first in our personal relationships and then interceding for others.
Reflect and give thanks
Give thanks for the peaceful circumstances and relationships in your life. Reflect back and thank him for reconciliation that you have experienced. How has he used you to bring shalom to those around you? Is He nudging you to pray for someone or take steps to reconcile a relationship? Do you need to forgive someone or ask for forgiveness?
Ask God
To show you those areas or relationships that are broken in your life and pray for wisdom and courage to take a step towards shalom.
Ask Him to place a burden on your heart to pray for a country whose people are suffering from ongoing conflict.
We would love to hear from you! How have you seen God move throughout the Summer of Prayer?
