Thursday August 7 – Prayer for the Philippines
Come and worship
God is omnipresent, He is everywhere at all times. “Do I not fill Heaven and earth?”, declares the Lord. Jeremiah 23:24
Meditate on His Word Psalm 139: 7-12, Isaiah 41:10
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
Recently, the country of the Philippines suffered a 7.2 earthquake followed by Typhoon Haiyan, a category-5 super typhoon. Both natural disasters left a path of destruction, caused a loss of power, communication and supplies. Our family traveled to the island of Bohol in February to help build temporary housing for families affected by both the earthquake and storm. As we visited with the survivors of these natural disasters, many expressed feelings of fear and confusion. I have felt burdened to pray for them to know and feel God’s presence with them always.
Reflect and give thanks
Take a few moments to be silent before the Lord reflecting on His presence throughout our world. Praise Him for giving the presence of His Spirit to His people. Praise His strength and help to the Filipino people as they recover from the earthquake and storm.
Dear God, We ask for your continued presence in the Philippines. We pray for the people effected by the storm and earthquake to know your peace and your provision as they recover. Lord, we ask that their eyes may be opened to the gifts You have provided them throughout the months of rebuilding. And, Lord, we ask for a spirit of peace. We pray that the Filipino people will know and claim your peace in their lives.
