Thursday July 10 – Prayer for Rwanda
Come and worship
We worship El Roi, the God who sees. He is not distant from us. Genesis 16:13
Meditate on His Word Isaiah 61:1-4
…to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning,
the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; They shall build up the ancient ruins; they shall raise up the former devastations. vv. 3,4
After the 1994 Rwandan genocide that killed an estimated 800,000 people, Charles Buregeya Mugisha returned to his homeland to witness the devastation left in the wake of this horrific time in history. Moved by the Holy Spirit to respond to the injustices he saw- death, orphaned children, homelessness, widows- he founded Africa New Life Ministries (ANLM). ANLM exists to “transform lives and communities through preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and acts of compassion.” The staff at ANLM embrace the truth that we are all beacons, or agents, of God’s love, justice and hope to those around us.
Reflect and give thanks
Take a few minutes to be silent before the Lord reflecting on the ways He is already at work in Bugesera, Rwanda. Give Him thanks for His healing love and restoration.
Pray that nominalism and complacency would have no place in the Church.
Many spiritual leaders were lost in the genocide. Pray that God would continue to raise up leaders.
Pray that God would guard hearts against bitterness in those who lost so much.
Pray for ongoing restoration and healing.
