Thursday July 3 – Be still and know
Come and worship
God, we praise you for your all-sufficiency. You are all we have ever needed, all we need now, and all we will ever need. It is ALL found in You!
Meditate on His Word Mark 4:39, Psalm 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10
In Psalm 46, “Be still” comes from the Hebrew verb “rapha” and can be translated as to let go, to release, or to “let yourselves become weak.” Here He calls us to let ourselves become weak and experience his all-sufficiency. In Mark, “be still” can be translated as “hush!” He also calls us to be quiet and to listen to Him at work in our lives and the world.
Reflect and give thanks
God, thank You that You are at work even when I can’t see it. In our world that is so broken and hurt, You remain all-powerful, almighty God who wants to commune with us.
Amazing Father, please help us to not turn a blind eye to what is going on in the world around us. Help us to see You at work and to be quiet long enough to hear how You would have us pray/give/go. In situations that often seem overwhelming, we ask for a heart that is willing to feel for the things that touch your heart.
