Tuesday July 15 – God’s Desire: The veil to be lifted
Come and worship
The Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down; the Lord loves the righteous. Psalm 146:8
Meditate on His Word 2 Corinthians 4:1-6
And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 2 Corinthians 4:3-4
We have all encountered the moment when we didn’t feel we had the words to say to someone that really needed to hear the gospel. In Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians, he is saying that its not the person proclaiming that is the problem, its that the god of this world has blinded the eyes of the unbeliever. When the gospel is proclaimed plainly, with a focus on the glory of Christ in his death and resurrection; that brings honor to the Lord. Concern of our own eloquence in speech takes the focus off Jesus and puts it on us.
Reflect and give thanks
That the gospel is a message that is relevant to everyone, no matter what issues in life this world has dealt them. Give thanks that we are not the saving mechanism for people; but messengers for Jesus’ sake.
To work in the lives of others that you are trying to reach with His gospel, that they would not be blind to the message. Ask Him to open their minds to understand the scriptures. Ask for a relationship with them where you can show them the story that God has given you and how you have chosen to follow Jesus.
