Wednesday August 13 – For hidden things to be brought to light
Come and worship
Our God who is light. In Him is no darkness at all. I John 1:5
Meditate on His Word I John 1:6-9, Psalm 139:1-16, Ephesians 5:8 Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,” even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.
For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Ephesians 5:8
Whether you, or a family member is in the grip of an addiction, or there is sin you are trying to hide, a common feeling is that “no one else could understand what I am going through.” Not only does Jesus understand, but there are many people around you with similar thoughts. We isolate ourselves for fear of discovery, not realizing that the enemy of our souls wants us to remain trapped and defeated.
We pray with Jehoshaphat; “We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” 2 Chronicles 20:12
Reflect and give thanks
Is there a place in your life that needs to be uncovered by the Light of the Lord? Give Him thanks for the light He shines on our hidden places not to hurt or shame us, but to heal us and give us joy.
To show us what is in our hearts and reveal the sins we would prefer to keep hidden.
To help us overcome our fear- where we are afraid to face the truth, to confess, to come into His light, and to let others see us as we are—broken and in need of healing.
To help us to truly seek Him- even we do not know what to do, to keep our eyes on Him- to show us the next step toward cleansing, and grant us the strength to take it.
To show us how to pray for the people in our lives who are struggling with sins they are trying to keep hidden.
