Wednesday August 20 – For those we love who are far from God
Come and worship
God’s love is so great that He gave His Son to bring us into fellowship with Him. His love encompasses the world and embraces each of us personally.
Meditate on His Word Luke 15, Isaiah 30:15-21
And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left. Isaiah 30:21
Family was God’s idea. When it comes with pain and disappointment, it’s sometimes hard to remember that it was a good idea. The Lord is for families, and He wants to bring restoration where there is distance, just as much as we do.
The parables in Luke 15 give us a glimpse of how God sees those who are distant from Him. He tells stories about things that get lost or go away, and to those who love them
it seems the separation may be permanent. But these lost things are not necessarily gone, never to be seen again, they are sought out with intensity. For some of us who love people far from God, we are in the place where we wait for the ‘found’ to happen and wonder if it ever will. It is important to remember that God waits too, but with a loving heart that intensely searches for them.
Reflect and give thanks
Did God search for you? Has there been a time in your life when you were on the wrong path and you heard Him calling you? Thank Him for His love that calls out and searches for those far from Him, and for His trustworthiness with those we love.
To renew hope in you for your loved one who is far from Him and to help you trust the Lord to be the voice calling them back to the right path to walk.
To give you the strength to commit to praying for them, and to leave the ‘finding’- the road back and the timeline- up to them and God.
For His protection over them while they are living away from Him.
For His work through the circumstances of their lives to draw them back to Himself.
