God Is Making His Appeal Through Our Stories

Your story is about how God took hold of you by being part of the church. Stories are so important. Everyone has a story. And everyone is in a different place in life. Some of us are new to church. Some are old school. Some are coming back to church. Some are trying to get their questions answered here today. People want to know if this church thing will help them in their journey. Your story will help them know that. Your story could be powerful because God is making his appeal through you!!!! If all this is true, we are called to rearrange our thinking that tells us that mission is sending someone somewhere to bring the good news, and recognize that mission is that you’ve already been sent somewhere, and that somewhere could be the computer company you work for, the engineering firm, the place you work hard to make your money, or the place where you raise your kids to know and cherish the gospel. We are sent there to invite others to be part of this amazing family. Key Takeaways In this sermon on 2 Corinthians 5:14-21 and the idea of generosity, we learned these key points. You’ll find the point in the recording where you learn more in parenthesis next to each point. In this passage, Paul is reminding the Corinthians that they are a family with a mission. (16:20) The big idea of 2 Corinthians 5 is that we have moved from self-focus to focusing on others. From selfishness to generosity. (19:00) Generosity is not a program of the church. Generosity actually defines the church as God’s sent people. (26:20) We are called to rearrange our thinking that tells us that mission is sending someone somewhere to bring the good news, and recognize that mission is that you’ve already been sent somewhere. Your job, your home, your friendships, etc.(26:40)
