Abide in Jesus

If we want victory, we need a plan for our Christian life. Do you have a plan? Or are you just coasting along and taking life as it comes? This week at Imprint Church in Woodinville we took a look at what 1 John 4:13-5:5 has to say about what it means to “abide” in Jesus’ love and words. Perhaps you are hoping that we’ll just give you three points to accomplish victory in your Christian life, but it isn’t that simple. Life is a lot more complicated than that. Key Points from the Sermon Here are some of the core lessons from this sermon from our Fundamentals series along with the point in the recording where you can learn more about it. Victory in Christ is not attained through a sanctified to-do list! (4:30) Jesus is claiming that He is the only way for us to have any kind of spiritual life, success, or power in our Christian life. (11:10) Abiding means trusting (resting) in Jesus’ love (15:20) and in Jesus’ words. (17:45) When life is complicated, trust the Holy Spirit. (23:35) The Holy Spirit living inside helps us not to live in fear. (31:20) Don’t be judged on how well you’ve followed Christ. Be judged on whether or not you abided in Christ. (36:20)

From Series: "The Fundamentals"

Many of us have probably experienced a D.T.R. You know, that moment when you “Define The Relationship” with a significant other so there is no confusion on the status of the relationship! Similarly 1st John could be described as a letter written to define the relationship… the relationship between Christ and His people, and people with one another. When a person begins a relationship with Jesus Christ, there are some things that need to be defined in how we live out our relationship with Christ and each other. These are the fundamentals of the Christian faith. This sermon series was delivered in July, August, and September of 2013.
